Who doesn’t go to the park for martinis and cards?

A friend on facebook showed me a site where they make fun of engagement photos–the site is called ‘what? we do this all the time!’    And it’s funny…because it’s true.  Sometimes the activities we do on photo shoots are kinda ridiculous, but there’s a purpose–I promise!

For me it’s a way to get the couple to relax and most importantly, laugh naturally.   And all the activities are interests the couple has–so it’s legit…for the most part.  The martinis and card playing is genuine interests for Eric and Nadia, but don’t worry they don’t usually drink and gamble in public parks in the afternoon.

Nadia and Eric were super cooperative and such troopers as I put them through the hoops at Chinguacouy Park in Brampton.   And I think we might have forced Eric to never show his face at the football field ever again.  Something about looking like a dork around the jocks…?   Valid but we got some fun shots and a lot of smoldering shots with Nadia’s piercing eyes!

Anyway, it was a fun afternoon and I enjoyed learning about Chinguacouy Park–if you haven’t been and you’re near Brampton it’s a great place to spend the day with the kids and even the grown-up kids!

Congratulations Nadia & Eric!   See you in August!

Gratulacje, Kristine & Derek!

Kumasta!  Ako si Claire.  Ano pangalan mo?

Sadly, I was too preoccupied with shooting to impress Filipino wedding guests with my tagalog.   Specifically my mastery of tagalog greetings and giving taxi drivers directions.  Kaliwah dito!  Salamat, Kuya.

Once again the weather reports for Kristine & Derek’s wedding day gave us all a scare (and maybe a heart attack), but I assured them that predictions would most certainly change by the time Friday rolled around.  Thankfully I was right, this time.

The bride looked gorgeous and the groom looked a little anxious…as he should.  But it turned out to be a really lovely day–even with some full on sun breaking through.   And it sure was nice working on a Friday and having my weekend free!   All the venues and locations were gorgeous and bright and I know that the mixed bag of Filipino and Polish guests really enjoyed the day.

Congratulations Kristine & Derek!

Salamat po!

Kelly + Joel = many happy returns

Just a few weeks ago we were able to squeeze an engagement session in for Kelly & Joel, see it here, just in time to get some shots printed for their wedding last weekend!

Of course it was a long, exciting journey for Kelly & Joel up to the wedding day, but what about me–isn’t this all about me, essentially?   Ha!  Not exactly, but I did have to drive through two MASSIVE thunderstorms, road closures, and gas on E after a pitstop in electricity-less-Woodstock left me stranded!  As a wedding photographer you have to take a lot of things into consideration when you travel far from home for a shoot–but it’s hard to anticipate an entire city without power, and consequently without gas pumps.  However I made it to Kelly’s on time, a little worse for wear.

Thankfully, and not surprisingly, the weather predictions were incorrect and we were blessed with a warm, sunny day with a light breeze.   It really was a lovely day all around–congratulations Kelly & Joel!  You really do add up.  (Did I mention they are both accountants? :)

Tea & Tents in the Park!

I’ve had the pleasure of working with this little family for a couple years now, and the pleasure of knowing Liselle for about 25 years!  Yikes.    Their little girls might be twins but they are so different–mini-Mom and mini-Dad!   They sure have grown up, running (and falling) around, picking up new words, names, and phrases like crazy.  Taylor, the parrot, made me realize how often I say ‘Ok guys!’ during a shoot…apparently a lot.

Check out their a couple photos from their 2009 shoot below, and be sure to check out Liselle’s ‘Treasure the Dress’ photo shoot in a couple months!
